Transport

Our Welcome Team will meet you at the arrival gate at Glasgow International Airport. Please look out for the GISWP Banners and our Welcome Team wearing t-shirts. They will guide you on the most direct and convenient route to your accommodation or university campus during the programme date and times.

The bus is outside the main airport building. The 500 Airport Shuttle Bus will take you directly to Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station. Please bring university letters with you to request a student discount on the bus.  

There is are regular service and it is a very quick method of getting to Glasgow City Centre.

You should stay on the bus until the last stop in Glasgow -  Buchanan Street Bus Station which is situated in the centre of Glasgow and provides good transport links around Glasgow. The bus lane runs alongside the taxi rank.

University of Strathclyde Students: There is a taxi rank at Buchanan Bus Station where you can take a taxi directly to your University or accommodation. If your final destination is within the City Centre, the taxi will only cost a few pounds.

Glasgow Caledonian University Students: Take the stairs next to the taxi rank, this will bring you up to Cowcaddens Road where the University is directly across the road. 

TAXI

Alternatively, on leaving the airport building there is a taxi rank. A taxi to Glasgow should cost around £25.00 (if you are travelling with a lot of luggage this may be easiest and most convenient mode of transport.

If you are arriving in Glasgow Prestwick Airport:

By Bus

Once you arrive at Glasgow Prestwick Airport, there are various bus services which will take you to Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station. Please bring student university letters with you to request a student discount on the bus 

You should stay on the bus until the last stop in Glasgow for the University - this will take you to the Buchanan Street Bus Station. Please see above directions from there to get to your University or Accommodation.

By Train

You can take a train direct from Glasgow Prestwick Airport to Glasgow Central Train Station. For this travel, you can show evidence of your flight to get a 50% discount on your train ticket.

Once you get to Glasgow Central Train Station you can walk to the University or get a taxi from there which will cost a few pounds. The taxi will be easiest route and there is a taxi rank directly outside the Train Station.
